Last night a sheet of flypaper laid out for mice caught one of our house lizards instead. I am glad that I was able to rescue it and that lizards are very resilient.
1) Apologized to the lizard and said that I would take it off the flypaper.
2) Ran water from a tap on the adhesive area, taking care not to drown the lizard.
3) Placed drops of liquid detergent round the lizard's body to loosen it from the adhesive area.
4) Placed the flypaper back on the floor and gently prodded the lizard's body off with the butt end of a plastic spoon.
The lizard joyously ran away, free at last.
I moved the flypaper sheet to another location. The next morning, a big, fat mouse got caught on it.
