My earliest memory that something was art nouveau was during my early childhood in the San Fernando, Pampanga cemetery. We would visit there every All Saints Day and All Souls Day. Our family plot was surrounded by mausoleums embellished with touches of art nouveau. Even the silver candlestick that we brought there every year had laurel buntings and cherubs' heads embossed round its base. I kept that candlestick for a while until I was in my 30s, and then someone bought it from me, I now forget who it was, and I wonder where that candlestick is now.
