I used to have a supervisor who always had to have the last word even when she was wrong, and she was wrong most of the time. She would throw spectacular tantrums whenever others challenged or disagreed with her.
When I was enrolled for my M.A. in Religious Studies one of my teachers, a nun, was the same.
My analysis of both women is that they are borderline sociopaths. One of them has retired and, thankfully, can now do no harm other than to her family, her neighbors, and herself.
