There is one thing that turns me off on The Voice. It is when the judges begin salivating like Pavlovian dogs upon discovering that a contestant is 15 or 16 with exclamations of "Oh my God!" "No, really!" "No way!". Is this a result of America's neo-Victorian, sexual repression?

Not to mention how discriminatory it sounds to all the other, older, contestants.

A 15- or 16-year old artist will not necessarily take his/her art to its apogee or full maturity. As a matter of fact such an artist is even likely to change careers in mid-stream.
