The serialized story of the Communist Party of China on CCTV now has English subtitles. I can finally understand what is going on. The setting and costumes are quite deliberately drab, but the performer who plays Mao Zedong looks like the real Mao and is uncannily convincing. It is a propaganda series, of course.
