Finished watching The Rose Rent from the Brother Cadfael series. I believe that the best episodes, like this one, are directed by Rick Stroud, who employs well-researched and detailed directorial touches. His forte is the masterful depiction of crowd scenes. Love that funeral cortege and the bronzesmith's workshop.
The choice of small-size framing for the series now makes sense to me. It gives the screen the dimensions of a wall tapestry. Many interior scenes are also lighted like paintings by Velazquez and are quite delightful to watch.
