I miss the stuff my father brought home from Japan when I was five years old. I recall a humidor with a wooden stork that dipped into its wooden box to retrieve a cigarette in its beak, and paper pills that blossomed into fantasy flowers when dropped on water. I still have his collection of tinted slide transparencies of Japanese culture.
